From GTOs to Game Dev: The Journey Behind Our Studio
Every great story has its turning point, and for me, that moment arrived when I made the decision to sell my dad’s cherished 1969 GTO. It was a tough choice, but one that marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life—a chapter driven by passion, dreams, and an unwavering commitment to game development.

With the funds from the sale, I invested in a high-performance PC and a wealth of resources to help me dive deep into the world of game development. I purchased tutorials, coding courses, and 3D assets, equipping myself with the knowledge and tools necessary to turn my vision into reality. It was a leap of faith, but one I was willing to take.

Starting this studio wasn’t easy. At the outset, I faced significant challenges—living in a house without power or water. For months, I relied on a generator to keep my work going, while I juggled between walking or biking to mini malls and gas stations to charge my two laptops and cell phone. My cell phone was housed in a rucksack that belonged to my uncle, a Vietnam War veteran—a small piece of history that kept me connected to the world.

In those early days, I was driven by a single purpose: to learn and grow. I’d download YouTube videos to watch in low power mode, absorbing every bit of knowledge I could on game development. Each tutorial, each line of code, was a stepping stone toward achieving my dreams.

After around seven months of perseverance, I finally reached a point where I could work 100% off the generator, and the studio began to take shape. The journey was arduous, but it was also incredibly rewarding. Every challenge I faced, every obstacle I overcame, only fueled my determination to succeed.

Today, our studio stands as a testament to that journey—a place where creativity and technology come together to create something truly special. It’s a space where dreams are realized, and where we continue to push boundaries and explore new possibilities in game development and 3D printing.

Sometimes, the most unexpected things can turn the tide in our lives. For me, that turning point came in the form of a modified Xbox and a Chicago Bears paint job.

A few years ago, my brother Josh suffered a severe accident that left him in a coma. Doctors were grim, advising us to prepare for the worst. They told us that the most we could hope for was a blank stare; the prognosis was bleak. My parents, however, held onto hope, deciding to wait for a year before making any final decisions.

During that year, Josh showed no signs of improvement. It was a heartbreaking period, watching someone you love trapped in a world of silence and stillness. Desperate to find something, anything, that might spark a change, I decided to bring in an old Xbox I had modified—painted in the garish colors of the Chicago Bears.

Getting that Xbox into the hospital wasn’t easy. I had to argue with a security guard just to set it up in Josh’s room. But when the system was finally hooked up, something extraordinary happened. Josh, who had been unresponsive for months, suddenly woke up. His eyes fell upon the Xbox and its brightly colored controller. Without hesitation, he reached out, grasping for it with a sense of recognition and determination.

Over the next few months, as he played, something incredible occurred. Each game was a step forward, a piece of the puzzle falling into place. Through the immersive world of gaming, Josh began to relearn and reclaim parts of his life that had seemed lost forever. His progress was slow, but it was real. The Xbox, which might have seemed like a trivial distraction to some, became a vital tool in his recovery.

Josh’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the unexpected ways that technology can make a difference. It’s this experience that fuels my passion for game development and 3D printing.
